My name is Marta Ortová and I am a rehabilitation doctor. I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University in Brno and after graduation I started working in inpatient rehabilitation. Gradually I added outpatient work to my work in the ward, which I started to enjoy, and because of its dynamics I eventually switched to working as an outpatient doctor completely. I enjoy variability in my work, both in location and work content. Because of my internal medicine background, I feel close to internal diagnoses, and it never ceases to amuse and amaze me how much of a positive effect rehabilitation can have on gynecological or gastrointestinal diseases, for example, or how much benefit it can have for cancer patients. I am constantly trying to work on myself, whether it is via courses or challenges that life puts in front of me. This year, I have added medical school teaching to my repertoire, which I find fulfilling, and prospectively I would like to expand the series of methodologies I work with to include, for example, DNS courses. I am returning to my hometown of Brno partly for the opportunity to work with colleagues with whom we share similar insights and approaches to therapy, and I would not miss such an opportunity to collaborate.
